Happy World Giraffe Day!

A Day For the Giraffes!

Our day was dedicated to giraffes!  We spent the morning at the zoo seeing the giraffes, feeding them, and my little guy had his face painted as a giraffe as well!  (He wanted a spider, but I insisted on the giraffe and that he could get a spider next time we came!  It was World Giraffe Day after all!)

World Giraffe Day is an exciting annual event initiated by GCF to celebrate the tallest animal on the longest day (or night) of the year – 21 June – every year! This year, World Giraffe Day 2017 focuses on the Masai giraffe in southern Kenya and Tanzania. (Source: GCF )

This day was extra special since the Giraffe Conservation Foundation had dedicated it to conservation of the Masai giraffe in Africa.  Read more about their conservation efforts for this majestic species here:   This year, World Giraffe Day 2017 focuses on the Masai giraffe in southern Kenya and Tanzania.

Our day was a happy one, but I was also thinking about the seriousness of the need for conservation for this majestic species of giraffe, and the efforts that the Giraffe Conservation Foundation are putting forth in Africa to save them.  Raising awareness and funds are crucial actions if we are to accomplish this goal so make a donation and spread the word that these wonderful animals need us!  Donate today! #StandTallWithGiraffes
